On Keats

Imagine you have the unique opportunity to talk with John Keats. What would you say to him? Comment his poem 'Happy is England, I could be content!' with him and ask him what are the meaning of the Italy references.

35 comments:

  1. Hi miss,

To begin with, if I had the opportunity to talk with Mr. Keats, I would tell him how much I appreciate him and as this may be once in a lifetime, I would probably try to ask if he had done other poems which never published and if he did so, to tell me some of them.

Apart from that, I would tell him something like:

When I read your poem “Happy is England! I could be content”, there were some things I didn’t understand completely such as the comparisons you made with Italy, would mind explaining me the meaning of those references?

By the way, I’ve been thinking about the poem and I believe that it reflects a kind of desire, am I mistaking? I mean, is it a way of trying to escape from reality as in your country you had a lot of problems to cope with?

For me it seems really interesting how you describe women of England and contrast their beauty with the one an Italian woman has.

All in all, I totally admire your way of writing, it is abstract but at the same time, you show reality; you don’t necessarily focus on a specific city or place but you sent a clear message to the readers.

Well, I hope we could talk another day,
    Thanks for everything

I hope this is what you expected us to comment miss, I didn’t understood clearly what we have to do.

    Bye miss, and take care!
    I miss you :(

  2. Hi Miss,

If I had the oportunity to talk to him, I would tell him that when I read this poem I got the idea that he was saying England is not good and there are other countries that are way better than england I would ask him why does he has thhis feeling? Why the country that is his hometown is not good enough for him? and why would he prefer other countries like Italy?

I hope to see you soon Miss, we all miss you a LOT!

  3. Hi miss! how are you? we miss you! About John KEATS, I will have to asked him: why he thought that England was not perfect?, what made him think like that!? maybe was a broken heart! or maybe he didn't want to be near a place where his family was sufering of poverty and a death of a love one! any way I would love to know the reason why he compared Italy with England, because in a way he made me feel that ENGLAND was under ITALY. my question is WHY ITALY? Why no other country? And the why HAPPY ENGLAND, if it seems like it doesn't make him happy, but well I still think that eventhough he makes clear that England is not perfect he still kind of love it.

Then after asking about the poem and the reasons why he wrote that, and asking why he choose to wrote about!, I would asked him about the women in his life.

  4. Hello !

Well about john Keats i really admired him because he was a revolutionary .he fight for his feelings . If i had the oportunity to talk whith him i would ask how he decided not to follow the rules of literature at that time because is difficult and how he can fight against society .
Furthermore i would ask what he want to express whit this " Happy is England, sweet her artless daughters; Enough their simple loveliness for me"
I dont like the way he express about women but maybe he refered to another thing i hope that .

I think that 'Happy is England is very contradictory becuase he talked about how he love his country England but at the same time he rejected it .
I love the way he compare England whit Italy and how he express whit metaphor in a very subtle way his feelings .

    See you soon
    love you miss Monica

  5. Hi miss,

Well, if I had the opportunity to talk to John Keats, first of all I would ask him about Italy, why did he put Italy and not other country?
Maybe it was because Italy at that time had no problems and was fine economically so he can make clearly the difference or maybe not.
Then, I would ask him about his personal life, how did he take the critics of the people around him and if they affect him.

Finally, I would say to him that I worship all of his work. He had a lot of talent and when you read one of those you can feel in some way what he is trying to say and transmit through the poem.

    That's all for now.
We miss you, miss Monica :')

  6. Hi miss,

How are things going? Hope everything is fine, really, I hope so.

Anyway, if I had the opportunity to have a conversation with Keats, I would say:

Hi John, when I first read your poem "Happy is England! I could be content" I thought: A lot of comments can be made, but what did John Keats really wanted to express? For example, to me, you are trying to let the world know how you admire your country but at the same time you have certain worries that could have been originated by the wide range of obstacles you had to go through. So, that´s why you compare it with Italy, where you spent your last years, to make it more clear, for the reason that in England you faced the most difficult moments and that makes talking about it not so lovely, whereas in Italy you had a more peaceful life and you have better memories of it.
Am I right, what did you really wanted to express?

Moreover, when you compare England with Italy you say: "For skies Italian, and an inward groan to sit upon an Alp as on a throne, and half forget what world or worldling meant", so that means that while you are in Italy you felt more free, living like a King in his throne, without caring about the world? Furthermore, when you talk about women in England you mention they are artless, so that means in Italy women are beauties of depper glance. All in all, what are the meanings of the Italian references?

Last but not least,I would like to say I really look up at you because even though you have been dismissed by others, you have lost your parents in your childhood, you have seen your brother die, and poverty kept you away of your true love; you have never given up and you have always followed what you wanted to achieve.

I think that´s all Mr. Keats, thanks for your time, I'm sure we'll talk again.

Ok miss, I hope everything is fine. Hope to see you soon. WE DO LOVE YOU.

    Always,

  7. Hi miss,

How are you? I hope you are better.

To begin with, if i had the opportunity to talk to John Keats in person, the first thing i would tell him is how much i admire him, because i consider Keats as a very strong person that even though he had to faced many problems being so young, he didn't lose himself in things such as alcohol or drugs; and also how he did to overcome with this problems.

Then i would asked him, what is his purpose comparing England with Italy?
Because there are some parts in which he explains his worries and therefore doesn't totally trust in his country, something that lets me understand that he prefers a little bit more Italy than England; or what he is trying to make clear is that it's not that he doesn't love England, but in Italy he feels released like a king in his throne. So then, why its tittle is Happy is England i could be content? Shouldn't it be a little different?

Also he referes to women in England as being artless, what is he trying to say with this kind of references?
I found the poem a little bit like a wish, like a way to escape from reality, is it true?

After all, i would thank him for his time and ask him just two more questions about his life. If you could change something about your past, would you do it or not? and what would it be?

    I think that's all.

    Take care and best wishes,
    Claudia Carretero.

  8. Hi miss,

How are you? I hope you are better, and hopefully you can come back to school soon, we miss you a lot.

Anyway, if I had the opportunity to talk with John Keats I will ask him so many things. First, I will tell him how much I admire him because in spite of the fact that he was dismissed as a middle-class interloper by most critics, he has manage to keep doing what he was so passionate about. I will also tell him that I really admire his strength because I think it is really painful to see the members of your family died as he did with his brother. Another thing is that I'm really sorry that he couldn't get married with his lovers because of his poverty but I'm really glad that he didn't give up and he succed in things he wanted.

I will also ask him why did he choose Italy and not other country to compare it with England. Maybe he wish that someday England could become as good and perfect as Italy. Or it can also be because in England he had faced difficult moments so he hasn't good memories, in contrast to Italy where he had a peaceful life and he has good experiences.

In addition, I will ask him why did he put that title and if he had a special reason for it, I will also ask him if he wrote more poems. Finally, I will thank him for his time and I will go.

Well, thats all for now. Hope to see you soon, with love.

  9. Hi miss,

Well, if I had the opportunity to talk with John Keats this is what I would say to him:

First of all, let me tell you that you are a really strong man, someone that could face the obstacles that presented on your life (as the death of your parents or the illness of your brother), someone that didn't give up and continue his life and work although your poems received a lot of critics. That's why I could say that I admire you.

About your poem "Happy is England! I could be content" ,i understand that you are comparing your country, England, with Italy. I know that you are happy being in your country but sometimes you would prefer being in Italy, as it is more peaceful and you can forget about the wordling problems. But could you tell me something exactly and explain me about the references why you prefer Italy to your own country making you can't feel completely happy in England?

In addition, you mentioned something about women. You say that english women were simple and artless, compared with italian women that were beautiful, intelligent, and someone who you could rely on and you could pass a good time, not simple women. My question would be if you think the same of all english women, and therefore why you felt in love with Fanny Brawne (an english woman)?

Finally, as I have noticed you are trying to express in the poem that you don't feel comfortable with the politics of your country and that's why you try to found an ideal, out of reality, is this true?

Well i think it is all for now.

    Take care, see you soon,

  10. Hi miss,

Hm, well.. first of all, I really don't know how I react when I met new people, because my humour changes constantly (today I'm still happy), so I think that I would ask him the following things:

-Why did he choose Italy between a lot of countries, because I didn't understand at all his comparisons with England and the preference he seemed to have with Italy.

-My point of view about the way he compared both countries is that maybe he felt kind of jealous of Italy, so he wanted England to be like Italy after all the changes that his country suffered.

-How was his way of loving, because I know that he was a very interesting person, and as he was interesting I know he felt a lot of things we just can't imagine. And I would like to know what was his perspective of love and about the woman he loved.

    - Also, I would ask him about the impact that the circunstances in which he and his family lived caused him. And how he reflected that feeling in his poems.

-I would like to know if he had a diary or something where he hide his secrets and about his hobbies and aspirations.

I hope John Keats didn't get bored with my bizarre questions, haha.

Take care miss, we really miss you here.

  11. Hi miss,

How are you? Hope everything is fine.

Well, if I had the opportunity to talk with Keats I think the first thing I will say will be how much I like his works and that he is a very strong person because although he didn't have advantages in life like education, money or love he kept holding on until he died.

Then I will ask him which were the problems that England was passing through that made him lost the confidence in his country, and why he decided to compare England with Italy.

Also, I will ask him why he didn't fight for love because if you love a person it doesn't matter the money even though what the society in that time will say.

Finally, I will thank him and say how much I admire him and that was a pleasure to meet him.

    Well, thats all.

  12. Hi miss ,

well if I had the chance to talk to Keats , probably the first thing that I tell him is that i really admire him because of his strength , even though his life was really hard , he did not give up.

Also I would asked him what exactly he wanted to express with his poem , only a discontent with England and the desire to compare it with Italy , But i‘m not sure why Italy? I believe that maybe because of your memories about this place.

And my final question would be why did he talked about this theme , If he was a great romantic poet , maybe nowadays he would be recognized for other poems , LOVE POEMS.

I MISS YOU SO MUCH :(

  13. Hi Miss Monica:

Well, if I had the opportunity to talk to Mr. Keats I would told him that I admire him so much, I know in life we have to face lots of things but what he passed was really painful, so that kind of people for me MUST receive a” wave of claps”, he had had a lot of strength.

Also, I would ask him some details that I do not get at all when I read his poem like:
Why did you compare England and Italy and no other country? And why first he is very glad about England and then at the same time he is like very disappointed… If you want my opinion, I get the impression it was because how England was at that time and also all what he had to pass since he was only a child.

Before I close, I would like to tell you that WE DO MISS YOU A LOT MISS MONICA, TOMORROW YOU WILL COME TO SCHOOL AND THAT MAKES ME VERY HAPPY! SEE YOU TOMORROW OK?

  14. Hi miss,
Well, I will ask him what made him take the decision of become a poet and what is the inspiration of his poems. Apart from that, I will tell him that I am the kind of person who admires strength in people who has passed through a lot of problems and difficulties (in his case his father’s death, then his mother’s death , his brother’s illness , etc),My comment about his poem “Happy is England, I could be content!” is that he is very realistic and aware of the situation in England , since he is against the politics of his country, he doesn’t trust in England anymore, however he tries to find a way of escape from reality, that´s why sometimes he prefer Italy than England, since is a peaceful place and he forgets about the problems.. I would ask him if he wouldn’t mind telling me what is the meaning of the Italy references he mentions in his poem.

  15. Hi miss,

What I would like to tell him is that I personally admired him in 2 ways: the strength he had had during his life, holding on despite circumstances; and the capacity of seeing love the support of everything and at the same the time the cause of his problems.

About the poem ‘Happy is England, I could be content!’ I would ask him what was he trying to express of his country on the poem? Or the specific place (city) he was referring to. I can realize that he describes reality and gives it a bit of imagination, but at least I can’t catch the whole idea of the poem.

He’s also comparing England to Italy, seeing the last one as a throne from which he could almost forget to see the reality in England. I know that England those times weren’t able to understand and appreciate the imagination, artistic and romantic poetry as he wrote, but was any other reason apart from the one mentioned that explains the big affection to Italy?

That’s it, by the way, I miss your literature classes :(

  16. Hi miss,
To begin with I would tell him that I admired him because he faced very difficult situations the death of his father, later the death of his sister and the second engagement of his mother, a hard thing to forget for a male son and finally the death of his mother. Also I would like to know why he admired so much Italy than his own country, England, also why he fell in love with an English woman despite he detested in a way England.
About the poem “Happy is England! I could be content”. I agree in what Keats wanted to say. The majority of us love another country, we can take into consideration the advantages, the lovely things of that country but we cannot see that in ours. Also we tend to compare our country to another to make people think that ours is less in value.

  17. Hello Miss. Monica,
Firstly if I could have the opportunity to meet Keats I would probably ask how did he get through everything that happen to him? How all this affected his work, whether he thought this was a good influence or not? And if writing about what was occurring in his life made the sorrow and sadness easier to deal with? I would also tell him how much I admire him for confronting everything that he went through and for being so brave and selfless. I would tell him that I truly think his work was really deep and maybe for the time he was too honest about his feelings. He always stayed true to all his feelings even the darkest ones and that is something to look up to.

Maybe, after all my questions about his work in general, we would go deeper in the poem “Happy is England I could be content”. I would shear with him what I believe this poem reflects. For start, I think it shows how angry Keats was about realizing that everybody just settle with what they got and he was tired of watching people never fighting for what they wanted, he was frustrated about them just receiving what nobles gave them or them watching things happening but never bother to do something to change it or say something about the reality they lived in. Perhaps, that’s the reason of the comparison between Italy and England or it could also be because Keats works was not appreciated in England as in Italy. I could ask him: “Sir, Why did you compare England to Italy? Does this have a personal reason or is it just for the political references?
Well, I hope this gives an idea of what I would ask him and what I would like to know about his work.
    Love,
    Karla

PS: I hope you feel better. I send you hugs and kisses. Come back to school soon please!!. Take care

  18. Hello Miss Mónica,

If I have the opportunity to talk with John Keats I think that I would express all my opinions that I have about him for example the admiration that I feel when I read one of his poems in this case “Happy is England I could be content”, in that poem he could show me the feelings that he had about two countries, and how he could turn that feeling in a poem, and also I admired him because he can create his poems although all the difficulties he had. Then I would ask him some questions like why he chose Italy and no other country, I mean what things made Italy special for him.
Also I would talk with him why he did that kind of comparisons with England, which obviously shows a different feeling in comparison with Italy.

I have a special question for him, because since I read his poem “Happy is England I could be content”. I didn’t know in what or in where he was inspired, I mean not only with that poem also with others. I would like to know more about his poetry if he had other poem to share with us, the teenagers.

  19. Hi miss,

How are you? We all miss you so much and we hope your better now.

Well if I had the opportunity to talk with Keats, first of all i would like to tell him that i admire him for all his great works. Although he lost his parents when he was very young he didn't give up and I think my first question would be related with this episode of his life. I would like to know how did he feel in that moment and if he ever thought that it was the end because he either had a good education and poverty kept him from marrying the woman he loved.

Also i would like to ask him how did he get interested in poetry; and altough his poems were not generally well received by critics, how did he handle that sutation. Because for the majority, it is hard to hear all those comments when your are just entering to the field and maybe nowadays there are a lot of poets who wants to share their works with the world but they are not allow or they feel underrated, so what would Keats say to all of them.

Finally I would like to ask him if he feels that there was something missing in his life or if he regrets about anything.

About the poem, I liked it because i think it shows the wish to scape from the reality that most of us need sometimes when we realised that life it's not perfect and we can't trust easily. That's why he mention Italy, where he felt comfortable, as a way to compare both countries.

    I think that's all.
    Love,

  20. Hi Miss,
It would be an honour to be in front of John Kits and what I had asked him would be why he compared his country in that way to Italy. Of course, we can deduce that he admired Italy because of the situation it has been passing through, I mean economically and politically they were ok and England used to be as Italy but then crisis and problems arrived to his country, so I think that he wanted to express in his poem "Happy is England! I could be content" is how marvellous England used to be. However, that is our perspective and it would be really interesting to hear the real explanation of what was the message of his poem, just to know and understand it better.

Another thing that surprised me was how he expressed about women as artless people. I don’t know exactly what he wanted to show, maybe he didn’t want to be literally, and perhaps it has another meaning it sounds a little bit despective (personally speaking). I believe that he could explain me better the real meaning of his expressions.

Finally, I would like to tell him how inspired I felt after reading his poem, because it reminds me my country. For example, he mention how beautiful is England and all the amazing things that it has but at the same time he expects to live in a better environment with no problems and he compares it with Italy. I think that here in our country is the same; we tend to compare it with other countries that we think are better but at the same time we feel blessed to live there because it has amazing places and resources and is kind of perfect although the situation doesn’t reflect it.

Another fact that I would like to point out is that I really admire him because even though he has lost his parents and his brother, and poverty didn’t allow him to marry to any woman and many other things, he has never given up and achieved what he really wanted.

I believe that I would tell him more things, but these are the ones I have in my mind. I would really be a pleasure to talk with him.

  21. Hi miss,
Well if I had the opportunity to talk with Mr. Keats I will tell him that I really admire him, as I can not even write an stanza.
Also, how impact cause on me his poem. Because I share his same feelings. For example, even though Peru has given me a lot of great opportunities, I am not totally happy with its nowadays economic and political situation and prefer sometimes other country. I think something similar happenned to him, or maybe he was dissappointed.
Another thing I would like to ask him is why happy? Is contradictory. If he is not feeling like that, maybe the tittle could be: England, I could be content.
Finally, something I really wanted to tell him, but I would not beacuse I know it is not polite is that I really feel sorry for him, beacause according to the biography we discuss at school about him, he definately was not a lucky person.

Well miss take care. We miss you a lot :(

  22. Hi miss,
How are you? I hope you are recovering and also to see you soon at school.

If I had the opportunity to meet Keats, I guess I would start asking him about the way he felt during his life and how he managed to get over every sad incident he had. Also, how these deep feelings influenced in his work.

I would also like to know the reason why he chose Italy if he had a lot of great countries to choose from and what aspects of Italian life and politics he would like to have in England.

Then, I would like he to explain be about his goals of life and the reason why he didn´t fight for the love of that woman because to me the lack of money is no obstacle to surrender to something so strong and beautiful as it is love.

About the poem, I think that it really express his desire to improve his land, England in order to be as Italy, the country he learn to love because of its beauty and also because he felt indentify with it. I like the way he wrote it, he mentioned the differences but in an abstract way.

Finally, I would tell him how much I appreciate his works and his life because he never gave him up. On the other hand, I would ask him to mention the things he admired from Italy and also some of it´s history, where is located, etc. Maybe, I could also add that if he had the opportunity to change some event of his life, what would be?

    That is all for now.

    Take care :D

    Hi miss Monica,

I am really sorry for the delay, and I hope you considere this part of my mark.

To begin with, I would tell Keats how much I admire him, I really enjoy reading his work and I wish I could write like him.

On the other hand, I would ask him why is that he is so enthusiastic about Italy, and why does he compares HIS OWN country, England, to another one, putting England as a one not so perfect.

First he expresses all the love that he feels for this place, and how everything is so wonderful there. Then, after he compares this place to Italy, he sees another part of this country, now everything is not so nice, not so flawless. But in the last paragraph, we can see that eventhough that England is not perfect, for him is just the perfect place to live, with all the good and bad things.

So my next question will be:
Why is it that eventhough England is not so perfect you love it so much?
Would it be, because it has some things in common with Italy, or because you were born there?

Well miss I hope this is all the information required for this assignment

Anyway, If I have the amazing oportunity to speak with Mr.Keats I would tell him how happy I am to finally meet him, and that I'm a really great fan of his poems and works, also I would ask him a few questions about this poem: 'Happy is England, I could be content!', such as: what were you thinking when you wrote this poem?, what inspired you? or, what kind of difficulties did you have to live while you where in England that made you compare your life there with the time you spend in Italy?
I think that I would tell him finally that I enjoyed this poem,it is really interesting because eventhough you had difficult times in your life during your stay in England you only wrote about the great things you lived there.

I'm really sorry for the delay, it's because we are in bimonthly exams and everything is so difficult, I hope you pardon me.

To begin with, if I had an opportunity to talk with John Keats, I would tell him that I admire him a lot because all the things that he wrote are FANTASTIC! Then, I would ask him about the meanings of the poems he wrote, also if he wrote another ones and what aspect of his life would like to change.

Moreover, I would coment his poem 'Happy is England, I could be content!' with him, and I would say that in that poem he show us the love and respect that he has for his whole country and also all his worries about some bad things that can happen there and also i would tell him that his poem is very inspiring because it teaches us that we need to be proud of our country.

Finally I would ask him the reason why he mention something about Italy in a part of a poem.

Well, I think that's all for now.

First of all i am really sorry for the delay,i promess this will never happen again.

If i had the opportunity to talk to Keats i would say to him that i love the way he writes and i really admire him a lot for all the things he had to came over in his life.

Furthermore i would ask him some questions about his work, what inspired him to write so beautiful poems? or why did he like Italy , what has he seen in Italy that impressed him so much to compared it to his own country England?

Apart form that i would ask him more about his particular life and how could he get over all the problems he had. One example would be how did he feel when he realized he had tuberculosis and he was completely alone.
Also if in the poem Happy is England, i could be content, he states that even though England is not perfect he loves it; then why did he prefer to die in Italy and not there?
Another question about his poem could be: What were the exactly reasons why he says England is not perfect.

Well thats all for now, i hope this comment will be evaluated please!!

I would like to say that if I had the opportunity to talk to him I would say that I love that poem and how he wote it. There he stated that although England has bad things, he loved and respected his country, that´s what I admire of him.About Italy, I would ask him what he tried to say with it.

Just to finish, I would say to him how much we talk about him and that we love his poetry. That he know how to express his feeling and that we like that from him.

    Well, that would be everything.

  28. Hi miss

I find this assignment kind of different from the others as this is the first time you ask us to make a comment or conversation with an author.

Anyway, if I had the chance to talk to Keats I would probably tell him how interesting I find his work and ask him to give me his interpretation of his own poem, because it would be really interesting to have the poem analyzed by the author.

I would also ask him why he thinks England should be more like Italy in order to understand the comparison much better. I really liked his poem because he expresses patriotism and love, even thought for him, England is not the best country but I really want to know why Italy if there are a lot of countries to choose from.

It would also be great if he could tell me stories and anecdotes of his short life, the things that inspired him to write, even what writing meant for him; it would help me understand his work more deeply and also maybe, be inspired by his thoughts and opinions about life and stuff.

Finally, I would ask him to sign a manuscript of any of his poems and maybe make him read any of the stuff I wrote so he could tell me what he thinks of it . ;D

I guess an entire day with him wouldn’t be enough to ask him all I want to know.

    Hope to see you soon

    Thanks for everything

  29. Miss Mónica,
If you are reading this is because you accept what I ask you so I am really
happy and pleased. THANK YOU SO MUCH! I promise this will not happen again.
Regarding what you ask us to comment, if I had this one-in-a-lifetime
opportunity to have a conversation with Mr. Keats, first of all I will be
really excited and wouldn’t know where to start but I believe it will be like
    this:
    - Hello Mr Keats, I will like to tell you before we start this interview
that I really admire you and feel extremely lucky to be doing this
    interview.
    -
Could you tell me if there are other poems or any book that you have
written but we haven’t had the pleasure to read?
    -
I have read some of your best poetry and I must said that I especially
like In drear-nighted December which I thought was really good as you
dedicate it to this beautiful month of the year where despite the cold,
we will always love it as it is always full of joy. However I would
have to admit that I personally I adore "Happy is England! I could be
content", I could right now tell you what I saw in it but, what did you
wanted to express with it? What would be your personal opinion? If you
let me comment before, I believe you wanted to talk about your feeling
for your country, England. Because no matter how it had treated you and
the comparison, you said there’s no other like it and it’s perfect in its
    own way. Am I right?
    -
Moreover, I will be pleased if you make me clear the reason of the
comparisons between England and Italy. Was this on purpose? Can we find a
secret here? Because I can tell you that when I read the second stanza, I
thought that you mean that here you felt free like you could say to the
wind what you thought and no one will criticise you and that finally her
you could be a “King”, which people will admire and read their poems and
books. Is this the reason? Is there something else?
    -
By the way, you said: “Happy is England, sweet her artless daughters”,
with this you mean that you consider women from England with no charm?
You don’t like them? Excuse me my indiscretion but this has to do with
you non-existed love affairs before Fanny Brawne?
    -
Well, all in all I will like to end saying that even though you have
not been accepted by others, you had a really difficult childhood, has
suffered for your family and you couldn’t have been with Fanny because of
your status, I really admire the way you think, express and write as I
understand you. Being in an epoch different to yours, being born before
this kind of revolutionary thoughts were even thought. Although we sun up
all this, you never give up and followed your dreams.
    -
It’s been a pleasure to talk with you Mr. Keats, this has been all.

And that’s how it will be, hope it is okay and it fills your expectations.
Thanks so much for this opportunity, take care and come back soon.

i think that if i had the opportunity to talk with him i would ask him about his real thoughts of England and why did he expresses so much angry with this home country, did them treat him bad or if he had problems in there, and why he was identify with Italy.

  32. Hi miss,

Well in case I had the opportunity to talk to Keats maybe I would ask him why did he choose Italy to compare his country and not another one. I do think that maybe he chose it because at that time Italy did not have many problemas as England had at that time. Another thing I would ask will be,t how did he do to have such respect and love to his country although whatever people could think about it and whether it was having a good time or not, and put that feeling in a really good poem such this one. Then, I would be really interested to know if when he was writing this poem he felt like jealosy thinking that Italy at the moment could be a better country than his.
Moreover, I would be really pleased doing this interview as Keats has been a great poet.

  33. Well if i had the opportunity to talk with Keats, I would ask if he was able to question England in this way, if he could put in discussion the culture and customs and why choosing Italy and no other countries why this in particular what does it had this special feeling for him and what made him feel

  34. Hi miss!
Well If I had the one in the life time chance to talk to Mr.Keats, I'd probably told him how much I aprecciate his work , and how he can see the inner beauty in all of us.
Also that his poem "Happy is England" it made me think that as huge as the flaws of a Country or a person, we have to see the essence of the person , no matter what we could see in the outside. In addition , I'd tell him , that I believe that he has a pure soul , and devotion to his country. And his poem has really got me , I'll not only delighted but also surprised if he could tell me about another poems he has wrote and he has not published.
    I think that's all.

  35. Hi miss Monica,

Well what i would say to Keats if i had the only opportunity to do it, is that why didn't he admire his own contry, England, instead of Italy. Why did he put Italy like something really positive in almost all his plays. Besides, i would like to know if maybe he had a hindden love in Italy and that's why he mention it many times. (:

Miss monica, we really miss you, i hope you to be fine soon.
    Take care,
