First Impression about Literature Class

I am very happy to begin this adventure with you. Literature has always been my passion. This time I will try to share all I know, that is very little, with all of you.

In here you can post your comment about classes. Also, you can add more information to what was already said in class or during our conversations.

I have only one thing to ask you, be polite and positive when writing.

As Ignazio Silone once wrote: Liberty is the possibility of doubting, of making a mistake,... of searching and experimenting,... of saying NO to any authority - literary, artistic, philosophical, religious, social and even political. (The God that failed, 1950)

Remember this gives you the opportunity of expressing yourselves, so DO it.

  1. Hi miss,

Before you said that "i really liked the class, thank you miss" was not acceptable, I was actually thinking of leaving a comment like that.

Anyway, I was never really interested in Shakespeare and I think it was because I didn't know any of his work. Of course I had heard a lot of people mention his name before but it never occurred to me that he would be such a genius.

After the first class we had, I was totally in love with him. I started researching on the internet and even started reading Hamlet.

And you were right about sonnet 18, it is just fantastic. I may still not know a lot of his work (okay... I know almost nothing), but I with the little I know, I think that if we're going to study and analyze his work deeper, it's going to be just great.

I'm also a big fan of midsummer Night's dream. I've always loved fairy novels (or is it fey novels?) and all the drama between Titania and Oberon wasn't the exception.

    Is my comment too long?
    I should stop writing now.

So , “thank you miss I really really liked the class” haha

  2. Hi Miss

So, here I am, posting my comment. The thing is, I really don't know what to say ._.

At first, I didn't understand what this class was going to be about. I mean, it's kinda obvious because of the title, but it was confusing. It's the first time we're having this subject, and, I know I'm not supossed to type comments like this but, I really enjoyed the class!

I always loved literature and when I read Romeo and Juliet, I became very interested in Shakespeare. I think it was more about the feeling that everybody knew who he was but I felt like I didn't. So when I read Much Ado about Nothing, I practically had to read it like 3 or 4 times before I got it, and since then I was fascinated.

I still haven't read a lot of his plays but I know that I will someday. Your class helped me realize that although he was a normal person from the eighteenth century, he was also a man who changed the literature completely. I think he really got the essence of human's feelings in his work.

I expect to continue learning about other authors like I did from Shakespeare and I really enjoy the fact that it is in english, not in spanish. It's like an extra! Specially since the girls who are in french, including me, have no english classes.

Anyway, I've writed a lot so far (I think even more than Lucia!) so I better end this comment now :)

    See you next class!

  3. hi miss,

When I heard about literature i didn't know what to expect, I thought it would be boring at first, but is actully really interesting and im glad that you teach us this subject!

After I read the XVIII I was IMPRESSED. I think that shakespare has a unique way to write, you feel like the poem was dedicated to you and it really touch your feelings it's like you find yourself in it.

I didn't know that he invented words; that made me realised how important was and IS. and also made me want to create some words too. haha :)

"I prefer liberty with danger than peace with slavery” Jeann-Jacques Rousseau

For me this word is very important just because I consider myself like a freespirit ;I could not imagine my life if I wouldn't have the liberty to express, to said what i consider is right or wrong, I have so much to said about everything and if had lived in the time when you was killed for saying that you think; I would have died long ago.

  4. Claudia, I like your comment very much because it allows me to tell you something: Shakespeare was born at the end of the Sixteenth Century and he died at the beginning of the Seventeenth Century, I know he was current at the XVIII too but do not get confused with the number of the sonnet we studied.
Thank you also for the enthousiasm, I will continue with the extra, I promise.

  5. Hi miss,

I believed learning about literature in english would be kind of difficult in some parts but despite that there are many things I didn't know of Shakespeare and that are really REALLY interesting and amazing.

At first I thought that it would be similar to a history class but it's totally different. I didn't expect that Shakespeare could had written 154 sonnets or all those fraces that we still use nowadays like "It's greek to me".
It was shocking to discover that almost everything we say is related to him and it also shows us how important he is.

I must say thank you because it was great to learn a little (at least) about him, I hope that we can analize his poetry in a deeper way, he wrote such good poems and we can't miss the opportunity of reading them.

Well, I think that's all (for now), thanks again and bye. (:

  6. Hi miss :),

To beging with when they told you are going to have literature in english I was like are you serious I've got enough with it in spanish I mean it's boring but then you came with you ppt. presentations and I realised it was an interesting subject and now I really like it.

Actually in the first class I was like lost because when you told us about the iambc pentameter and the old english I was like c'mon I'm getting confused PLEASE DO NOT DO THIS! and then I realised I could not do anything to stop it so I decided to enjoy it and I really do.

So thanks for making me like literature :) you make it a funny subject :D

  7. hi miss (:
It was difficult for me to post this because i didn´t understand how to do it but claudia (marce)help so i´m here .
Well the truth I was surprised and pleased me very much the idea that we have a class that usually we had in Spanish but now is in English. Sounds great to have an opportunity to learn more about English literature. I also think that it´s important to know recognized writers like SHAKESPARE

Last class I found it very interesting because I could learn more about the life of SHAKESPARE especially the part where many writers and directors of films were inspired by the work he did.

It seemed a good idea that we took a test about the previous class because this way we will realize if we understood or not the subject

I really expect to continue learning more about classical literature.

See you next class miss (:

Hi Miss Monica. To begin with, I must say, that I really enjoyed literature since the beginning, maybe you are not going to believe this, but I was really glad when they told me we were going to have literature class. I was even happier when they told me it was going to be with you.

I really like your methods, the ppt presentions were great, I speak for myself when I say that I understood everything you said.

Eventhough I thought I was not prepare for the exam, I did my best, and I think it was good enough. Although I'll try to do my best always in this class.

I really enjoy learning about this people, like Shakespear, because is part of our history, of EVERYBODY'S history. There are some things like the sonnets, the expressions, and the new words he wrote, that are very important in our daily lifes.

As you may know, I try to watch a lot of T.V. programmes in English, because after hearing them more than 10 times, I kind of get use to it.
And in some of this programmes I heared a lot about Shakespear and some other writers, which now I know how important they are.

I know this class will cover all my expectacions about literature, thanks to you, and the school program.

    Thanks once again,

  9. Hi Miss,

I really hope it's not too late to post my comment. I would like to send it before but I just didn't know exactly what to write (after reading all those comments).

    Anyway, here I go.

The first time I heard that we were going to have literature classes in English I was so excited, because we only used to have Active Study and Level (Lengua B). And after the first class I knew my excitement was not in vane.

I instantly loved the Shakespeare sonnet we read in class. It was so beautiful to me that a man could express those feelings in such a way that life seems to be incredible and inmortal for everyone.

I must say that I didn't knew a lot about him. But after that class, I became really interested in his sonnets and his lifestyle.
At the beggining I found it a little bit difficult to understand the sense of some lines in the sonnet because there were new words (at least to me).
And I really enjoyed when Lucia & I started to find the way to find the iambic pentameter. It's really odd, but so interesting.

    What else can I say?
Your class was incredible, Miss Monica.
Thank you for your dedication with us.

When i entered to school, we recieved our timetable and I was sorprised because I noticed a Literature class. I thought of how would it be.

The first class arrived and I didn't undestand what we were going to do .. then we recieved our books and when I opened it I read a sonnet from Shakespeare, he used some words i didn't understand but after that, you gave us homework and i looked for some information on the web. I was surprised because i saw who he really was, a genious. He made a lot of things like poems, sonnets, theatre. But the last class I was in shock when you showed us some words he actually invented!

Now i appreciate the literature and i want to learn more a more about it. I know some times is boring and difficult but when you understand it, you find it so amazing.

It is a pleasure to have classes with you.

Firstly, I thought that the Literature subject was going to be a little bit boring and stressful, but right now I'm loving it.

When you talked about Shakespeare, I realized that if he hadn't existed, a lot of expressions (that we use now) wouldn't exist right now.

He is so smart and creative that is really great to learn more about him.
He is an inspiration for a lot of people and the minimum we can do is to learn about him.

Thank you for sharing all your knowledge about this subject.

    God bless you.

  13. Hi Miss Monica,

I’m in a friend’s house just to post this comment. I really had problems with my computer so I couldn’t send you it before.

Actually I have no words to express my ideas about this great personality, I mean Shakespeare. When I first heard about him, I was watching The Simpsons program when I was 8 years old. I remembered that my father told to me that they were representing Hamlet in that episode. After that, Shakespeare had been in my mind until now. The way he has peeped into the human life is amazing and I think he had a great ability to scan the human mind and express it in all their works.

Being honest, the only work that I have read from Shakespeare was Romeo and Juliet (apart from the sonnet 18 that we read in our first class) and I must tell you miss, that your class had whetted my appetite for reading more about Shakespeare. I really think that his plays, his sonnets and everything he did is kind of surprising and gratifying.

However, I must also confess that Shakespeare’s language seems hard to be understood (personally speaking), but I totally agreed with my classmates, he was a genius author; all what he imagined in his short stories, novels and plays is existing in real life. For me, the one who can't see his mistakes, can discover them through Shakespeare's works. If he would still alive, God knows what else he could have written now or what kind of expression he would invented. I know, he is dead, but his work is still alive.

As Thomas Alva Edison said, “he would have been an inventor, a wonderful inventor, if he had turned his mind to it. He seemed to see the inside of everything”.

There are many things to say about Shakespeare, but I would never finish. I’m very happy to take this course at school. I think is a great opportunity to improve our English and also to learn more about literature; how does it have been changing through the time, how people found the way to express themselves and how we can enjoy it in the present (and also in the future because poetry never dies).

It’s quite depressing only to have one hour a week, but I really enjoy that hour because I feel that I’m learning something new and interesting.

Thank you Miss and I believe this is the end of my comment because my friend has to leave and me too.

    See you on Tuesday.

  14. Hi miss :),

Well, to begin with, when I heard that we were going to have literature in english I thought that it was going to be boring and not so interesting because it was going to like in spanish but in other language.

But no, I was wrong. Since the first class I was captivated by Shakespeare. I think that was a good theme to start the course, specially because of his sonnet. It has an intimate meaning that neither the most intelligent person nor anyone could decipher it.

The sonnet has obviously many theories or hypothesis but no one can prove that theory is the real meaning of the sonnet.

Anyway, I'm very interested in learning more about Shakespeare and the other famous people that has give us many things which nowadays we use as some Shakespeare's phrases.

I'd better finish here. Thank you very much, miss.

    Hi miss!
To begin with, when i knew for the first time we’ll have the subject of literature in English, the first thing i thought was that it would be really interesting and it actually is.

Now, that we have already have 2 classes of literature, I have realized how fundamental Shakespeare was. And not only in literature, but also in all aspects of our daily life.

That’s why It amazes me how talented and skillful he was. We all knew that Shakeaspeare was such an important character in Literature but the majority of us (including myself) we didn’t know why exactly.

Furthermore, I really appreciated your dedication toward us for wanting that all we learn. Thanks to you we will be able to know this field never seen before.

I have the premonition that by the end of the year i will be deeply in love with him.

  16. Hi miss,

I'm really sorry I couldn't send you my comment before, but I really hope it is not too late to do it because I have too many things to express about Shakespeare.

I can't believe how a man could write so many incredible and beauty things like he did. I just can't consider Shakespeare a man, for me he is such a genious. I really admire how passioned he was with the things he did. He put on them such a dedication that he created the most beautiful poems, sonnets and stories someone could ever make!

I was searching through the net and I found he was also an actor and that he had written plays, too. I was so amazed that I wish I could have a time machine so I can go through time and meet Shakespeare. I think I would not have enough time to ask him all the things I want to know about his work because I would never finish!

I thought the class was incredible although at first there were some words I didn't understand. I think it is really great that the school has introduced this subject to our schedule, because we are able to learn some things we didn't know about literature and the influenced it has today.

I didn't know that some of the expressions we use today were from Shakespeare and that he had invented them until you told us. As well as he, there should be many other writers that has contribute to our literature and because of them is that we have such a complete and fascinating literature.

I just want to finish telling you that I’m really looking forward our next class!

  17. Hi miss.

I didn't like literature and neither understand it, so when I found out that we're having that subject in english. I was thinking "Great I don't undestand it in spanish, imagine in english."

But I must say I really enojoyed the first class,I knew that Shakespeare has been and is the best author of novels.I had not read anything of him , until our first class.

I was a bit confused when I read the poem , because there were words i had never heard of them, so I though "maybe they got wrong." But , of course , it wasn't.Learing the old english , seems like an opportunity to expand our vocabulary.

I also ignored that almost all the movies came from Shakespeare novels, or at least the same plot.

He's so smart and so creative, that he invented a lot of expressions and words. That make him inmortal.

I can't wait for our next class (:

At first i thought that this class would be bored because i don't really like letters, but then you showed us the power point presentation and you started talking about Shakespeare and his sonnets and i really enjoy it that i started thinking on read Hamlet and searching on the internet more sonnets about him, also on buy "Shakespeare in love", because i've never seen that movie.

Besides i discovered that old english sounds better although it's a little bit hard to understand it.

Well i'm anxious for being on your next class!

  20. To be honest, I thought it was going to be bored because I already do not like literature in spanish so I did not know what to expect about it in English, specially because old English makes it more difficult to understand.
But when I started to read Shakespeare I could see the feeling with which it was written, it catches you and makes you want to know more about Shakespeare and the meaning of his metaphors.
I think this literature class could make me like to read more poems written by different authors. I can say that, after the first class, I am already more interested in try to identify what is the meaning of the metaphors, I find it very exciting.
The way you taught us the very first day made a great impression in me so I am going to do my best in your class. Thank you for sharing all your knowledge with us.

  21. Hi Miss,

How can I explain you how happy I'm? I mean since I was little my mother used to tell me little by little about Shakespeare and when I started secondary I thought I'll never be able to study his sonnets or stories as we didn't have this subject.

Thanks God, now in Form 4 you are teaching us the magic that this genious could transmit to the world. Every single word makes his writing special. His feeling couldn't be expressed better. Shakespeare makes you tremble in each story and that makes you keep them inside your heart forever!

As you said, we have to feel free and encourage ourselves of sying what we think, say and do and show to the world who we really are. "Man cannot discover new oceans unless he has the courage to lose sight of the shore." André Gide.

Miss Monica thank you very much for this opportunity. I'm sure it'll be wonderful. We'll share fantastic things and it's better if it's with you!

To begin with, when I saw in the schedule literature, I was half-frightened because i thought it would be a bit hard to learn english literature, But then I saw you so excited and thought it would be fun.

Well, the first day of school I was interested to know about Shakespeare and the ppt presentation made it more interesting and easier to learn, but when you give us the sonnet of Shakespeare it had some words that I didn't understand and that made it a bit difficult, until you said that it was the Old English. Also i learned the words that Shakespeare created and the sonnets he wrote, he is THE MAN.

Now I know that the literature class is not boring and I know we will learn everything you know and that's great.

First of all, thank you very much for that nice message you left us and I have to respond that I really enjoy literature class since the very beginning.

When I was told we were going to have literature in English, I thought of complicated authors and making poems every class. But I totally changed my mind. The class is entertainning, we participe a lot, quizes are not so difficult and we learn curious facts. For example, most of the expressions we use all the time are from Shakespeare.

Also, I have noticed that you really enjoyed this class because you get prepared and bring us presentations in Power Point, you explain it very well and get excited when saying some information.

Well, with that said I expect to get great marks and learn more about this course. Now, I know I am going to have fun while learning.

At first when I recieved the timetable I notice that we would have English literature course and I found it interesting, the problem was that if I seemed it borring in Spanish in English wold be worse, but luckily it was not.

The slides you use for the exhibition of Shakespeare were very interesting, because we learned new things about this author as when he was baptized, how many sons did he had, and so on.

Finally thank you for patience in this course and continue teaching us new things every week.

  25. Hi Miss

How are you? I hope you are fine. Well, I'm going to talk about my first impression of literature class.

When I knew that we had a new subject I didn't think that it would be literature in english.
My first impression was that this subject would be boring but when I knew that you are going to be our teacher I thought that the classes will be interesting and dinamics.

Sincerely, at the biginning Shakespeare doesn't call my atention but when you teach our classes with power point we enjoy it and we understand very fast.

Also with that subject we are going to know more vocabulary like the terms you taught us in the first poem we read of Shakespeare (Sonet XVIII)

In my opinion Shakespeare is a very famous writer. I love his poems and phrases that recently I had knowm.

I hope that we are going to continue learning more about Shakespeare and anothers famous writers.

  26. Hi Miss Monica,

Yes! Finally a computer, I haven't been in one for a while that's why I couldn't put the comment before.

Well, I've been thinking what to put here, and well I thought it would be good to tell you how I feel about this class.

I have nothing but really good comments about it, I must confess that at the beginning I thought it will be a little bit boring and hard, but when you explain how it was going to be and started talking about Shakespeare it seem better and better.

Now, I have to admit that I totally love it! It has to be one of my favourite subjects, I am serious, I mean, I have always like Literature and there was some sort of hope that Literature in English will be as in Spanish because in that case it will be awsome, but I had my doubts because they are totally different, the cultures, costumes, way of writting, EVERYTHING!
But now that I know how it is I have discovered is the same and even better.

And at the first class, you talk about Shakespeare and that beautiful sonnet, it totally got my attention, there was no better writer to start with than him, and I am totally a Shakespeare lover I have always like his plays and sonnets, have not read any complete version but I am planning on.

So I am going with all my best hopes to my third class to learn of somebody else, that I hope, is going to be as great and interesting as Shakespeare. So, see you on Thursday!

to begin with, when I heard about Literature class I think "wow it's going to be boring like in spanish" beacuse I think that its gonig to be the same that in spanish.

But at the ends of the first class, I was really surprised bacuase that was not what I expected.
I dont like poetry and literature also, because for me poems was words and words only to read and I hate reading.
I have learned so much from Shakespeare, like he invented many words and he did 154 sonnets that I will read his books (but I prefer films,as I said I hate reading)

Now literature is the most interesting english subject that I have. And it's all thanks to you.

  29. Hello Miss Mónica,

First of all, I’d like to say I am very surprised by Literature that I didn’t expect to take it this year. Honestly, I thought this would be a bit boring, because when I listened the name : Literature, The first thing comes to my mind is to learn a lot of dates, names, etc; but also when our teacher told us that you were going to teacher us , I was glad, more than I expected.
Your teaching method seems very educational, especially I think is a great help for the materials you bring, in this case I’m talking about the power point presentations, these make the classes more interesting and good, because miss, to be honest, there are classes that are boring, but yours are more fun than others, believe me.
Anyway, talking about Shakespeare, at the beginning I wasn’t interested at him, I thought he was a boring man, but when you started to talk more about him, I got surprised, trust me. He’s so intelligent, of every single word he said. Unfortunately, now he is dead, I‘d really like to know him, but now we now that’s impossible.
I have to go now Miss Monica; I hope you really liked my opinion of your course and hope that the classes will continue at the same routine, because that will make them super “COOL”. Also, thank you for all the dedication you give us, that really demonstrate that you really love us and you really work to make us learn

  33. Dear Miss Monica,

This subject is nwe for me and all most everyone and for me is not only "just another subject we have to study"(like math for me) is more like an inspiration and somehow is like a clue about our past, and how they used to express their feelings.

Shaskespeare was not only a genius on his time, he is still a genius nowadays. He remains an inspiration for writers and his words are quoted by us and everyone on our family. The most comun
phrases we still use are :"It's greek to me" or"goodness' sake!"

He was too young when he died, but.. could you imagine if he had lived 5 or even 2 years more? how many things he could have created! Unfortunately something that he wrote are not yet deciphered, for example sonnet XVIII, we don't now if it was wrote for a girl, for him, or for a boy.

Also, I have to meantion that I am so glad that we get the chance to lear about him, about this person who change our life, the way romantic movies are, the way people talk, and all most every love story or poems...

Finally, I most say I may not be the best student of all but I could assure you that I will give my best to learn every thing about this icon.

P.D: Sorry for my delated, I had some problems.

  34. Hi miss,

Finally I can see the blog and all the comments that the girls have written.

As they, I am so amazed about Shakespeare. He was a genius! I love the way he wrote, all the feelings that he expressed make me feel inspired to the point that I can write a poem in that moment, I wish I could write like him!

Also, I find very interesting the era in which he lived because finally they stopped followed the church thoughts and made the man the center of their study.

Well miss, I would be gratefull if we can see more about the literature of the rennaissance and of Shakespeare (specially his plays).

    Take care miss.
    See you next class!

  35. Hi Miss Monica,

Well, I don´t know how to begin with this because it’s tough to express myself and it gets harder when It’s in English. However, I have to do it. xD

First of all, a friend told me that we were going to study Literature in English. At first, I couldn’t believe her. I thought she was kidding me. But then I found out it was true. I like Literature but I never thought It could be in english. I believed that it would be very difficult so I was too scared about it.

When the class started, I was thinking that it wouldn’t be just difficult, but also very boring. But when you put the ppt and started to explain about Shakespeare I began to get interested at the subject and I realized it was kind of easy; I was totally wrong about its difficulty. In fact, I liked it a little bit.

Finally, I have to say that despite the fact I might find it hard and complicated, I promise that I will do my best.

  36. Dear Miss Mónica,

I´m so glad you have made this blog. As you said, this is a good way to express aourselves, so that´s what I am going to do.

Many of my classmates said that at fist they thought that literarture in English would be boring. Actually, I didn´t know what to expect because it was something totally new for me. However, since the beginning I found it very attractive. Shakespeare was a good way to start because he is a very important person that we had heard about but we didn´t know anything.

He called my attention a lot because his books and plays have been and will be such an inspiration for many people. Moreover, he called my attention beacause his personal life an the musa of some of his sonnets would be always a mistery and that makes me want to know more about him.

I really hope you can teach us more things about Shakespeare and about other authors that I am sure we would love.

  37. Hi miss,

(Miss Monica, I am very sorry to comment so late, I had been doing this arround my house, and stuff I need to solve :( )

Well, how to start posting a comment about a new class, about literature, ok, here we go.

First of all, this was such an excellent idea, to have a class of Literature in english, because we have english as our second language in school and it's great because learning a new language is not only about that, we have to know everything about it.
This is such a great expirience for all of us, we have to enjoy this. I know sometimes we talk or we are tired and we don't want to do things, but I think that we all appreciate very much this class, we all understand the importance of this subject, beacause we know that this is basic to our school life and also for our future.

Now talking about Shakespare, I did knew Shakespare's work and plays, I always thought he was such a talented man, but I never had the opportunity to study his work, to understand the sonnets like we saw on our first class, the sensation I felt when I read that sonnet and, when I really understood it of course, was INCREDIBLE I don't have enough word to explain it, thwe way he usses those words, how he connects them is brilliant!

I hope to enjoy more and more this class, i'm sure i would do that, I think we all are going to do it!

Thank you very much miss, I saw your love, enthusiasm and that desire for us to learn and to love this. Thanks again because we all know that you want to transmit all your knowledge to us.

    Kisses,

  38. Miss Monicaa!

I really don't know nothing about this subject since this year. When I was on vacations I thought: Literature in english? it's a joke? but then i realised that it was true.

Fist of all I thought that this subject was really boring because I really don't like literature. I thought that this was all about reading books in english and that stuff, but now I understand more about this subject.

Well I really don't now so much about this but I really want to do my best. I'm going to try everything to learn more and to improve more my english!

I wish you could give me you support and help me to understand and pass the course!! haha

  39. Hi Miss Monica, sorry for posting my comment to late but I had problems with the connection last week, fortunately the problem is over.
To begin with, I like the idea of having English Literature class, apart form literature in Spanish, because is a way in which we can practice our English this year since we don´t have Active Study classes, so we learn about Shakespeare, Milton and the most important writers of the European Literature.
I have realized that there are many films based in Shakespeare, the vocabulary we use know in our everyday english was created by him, also de phrases. He is a memorable man!
Before I forget, the most I enjoy about your class is that you explain your P.PT presentation in a way we can understand, you give good examples and then we take a quiz about what we had learned in class, so that makes us to pay atention to your class and take notes.
You are a good teacher Miss Monica.

  40. Dear miss Monica

I'm taking like years to write this commet but I don't know why!, anyway, let me tell you that I am really amazed by all your knowledge!I never imagine you teaching us literature in english.

to tell you the truth, when I first knew that this year we we were going to have this subject I was a little bit confused because I didn't understand the reason why we had to take the clases, but now I know that is not only a matter of marks and participation, because this is a funny way to learn and acquire knowledge about things that we don’t normally hear in daily life and and I’am sure that this will be very usefull for our future.

Apart from this, the way that you teach is very entertaining, and the information that you select every class is very interesting, I agree with Sara in the part of her comment where she says that you give good examples about what you are talking about, this is a way to make sure that we are understanding everything.
Thanks for being such a great teacher.

At first i didnt know how would be this class, i was really nervous because it was really new for me and i though this class would be very hard. to be honest i still think like that but i am sure i will improve with time

I love your class because since we had the first class i know things i didnt know about Shakespeare which are very very interesting

  42. Hi miss,

Sorry for posting my comment so late, but there was a misunderstanding and I didn’t know that I had to do this.
    Anyway, I’ll start know.

The first time I was told that we were going to have Literature class in English; I was really surprised because we had never taken any classes in English, besides active study and level; so I really didn’t know what to expect, but to tell you the truth I think this is an amazing opportunity for us to improve our English and also to get some new vocabulary. I know it’s going to be a little more difficult because English is not our native language (although we had practice it since we were kids) but as I mention before, we have to take advantage of your knowledge and try to do our best.

I was amazed with Shakespeare since our first class, and especially with the 18th sonnet. It’s the most beautiful writing I have ever read in my life! I must say Shakespeare was a COMPLETELY GENIOUS! I can't believe how a man could write so many incredible poems like he did, and express so many feelings and emotions that can make us live the poem or whatever he writes.

There are so many things to say about him, but I would never finish. I didn’t know that some of the words and phrases we use nowadays were an invention of him. And also that there were lots of movies that were based in his books and poems, like “The Lion King” (based on Hamlet).

Although I would want to continue writing, I have say goodbye now because I have to finish my mathematic homework. I just wnat to thank you for your dedication and enthusiasm in our classes. I'm looking forward our next class. See you next Tuesday!

    Kisses,

  43. Hi Miss :)
Well, when the tutor told us we will have literature class I was like anxious to start it because we never had a class like that and either in english.
When we had our first class and I was not really interested in Shakespeare because I didn't knew nothing about him but when you told us all the things that he had done and also that he invented words that we normally use all the time.
    Well.. bye miss!

  44. Hi miss,
Well when I was told that we were going to have this class I was thinking about what we would learn this last year and that this will be a great experience to read about European Literature. The first class I didn't get the point at the first time because it was the first time I was reading poetry in English. Learning about Shakespeare was very interesting. He created a huge variety of poems and each one has an important message. Also when I knew he invented new words or expressions that we use nowadays I was very impressed.
Sincerely it is a great class to have. Because I'm sure that we are going to discover who made different things that are very important these days.

  45. Hi Miss,
In my first class I was very excited because I was going to red Shakespeare for the first time.
It is very amazing how Shakespeare put all his feelings in his poems.
I become very glad with the last two lines of the sonet XVIII.
I got impressed when I realized that Shakespeare invented some words that we use in everyday English.
Apart from that you helped us to understand the ancient English and the class in general.

  48. Miss… I know it’s really really late to post this first comment. But, what matters is the intention, so here I go.

When I checked the list of my school materials and subjects, got surprised about this new one and also was anxious, worried to know who will teach it.

I remembered the first when you just came into the class and said: “Ok, girls, let’s move to Form III (or I)”. It was funny and cool to know you were going to teach us, I’ve noticed that you are a very intelligent woman.

Well, I didn’t know much about Shakespeare, so that first class, I felt a little lost and confused. I’ve just read Romeo and Juliet in Spanish, but for me the English version conveys more feelings and you really make sense about them.
Knowing little about this fabulous character; makes a person feel as ignorant, as me.
Now, I can tell more about him and his sonnets and poems, and the love he had for himself.

Another thing the impresses me, is that Shakespeare’ sonnets have that magic and beauty on its words that during the time, has the capacity to endure. For example in Romeo and Juliet, we can appreciate the mix of love, hate and lie between the characters that can lead to commit acts like those.

To finish, I think Shakespeare is the only one who have had the power and imagination to write about different topics as romance, mystery, fantasy, sonnets, comedy and scripts. So, this class has taught me more than just literature.

    Best wishes,
    Thirza

  49. Hi Miss,

Well, when I noticed that we would have literature classes, i thought it would be a difficult class, since i thought we would need to know a huge range of vocabulary in english, but then a i realized that it wasn't so difficult.

I remembered the first class when we started to read the 18th sonnet of Shakespeare. Telling you the truth,at the first reading i
understood almost nothing, but after you explain us some words that are no longer in current use, i understood the sense of the poem and i can tell you that it was really beautiful.

Shakespeare is a really intelligent man. I can't believe that many of the phrases we use now a days were invented by him, like "It's greek to me" or "Fair play". I can even say that i admire him.

Of course, he is not the only man in the world who had contributed to the literature, the language and culture. That's why it would be really interesting to continue learning about other writters as we are doing in your classes.

Also, as we are not having active study classes or level, it would be interesting this subject to practicing English more frequently.

Finally, i really have high expectations to learn a lot of literature until the end of the year, in this way, my culture will also increase.

Good bye, see you on Tuesday

  50. Hi miss,
I know that is too late to post this comment, that was supposed to post it the last week, but i didn't know, so it's better to begin now.

At first when i saw that we were going to have literature class i was confused because i never thought we were going to study shakespiare, because actually i don't know anything about him except for what we have learned in class.
I liked a lot the sonnet we read in class because this sonnet can transmit the feelings through words, it was amazing how someone could do this because it's very difficult.

To finish, i think this class will help us in know more about literature of course and culture.

    bye miss.

  52. Hey Miss Monica!

I didn't realise this page was on my e-mail, so that's why I couldn't do it before =D, so sorry...

Talking about the first class, which I thought we were going to have Active Study classes by the way, I can say, that there's always something more to learn, in this case studying Literature...

If we talk about Shakespeare, let me say that he was and is a big influence not only in literature, but also in philosophy (for me) and many ways of seeing life, which not everybody can realise so easily.

I remember once, years ago, one teacher during english class (on my last school), told us stories really dramatic, shocking and amazing at the same time, I got impressed! what I didn't know later, was that they were actually from Shakespeare, so now I'm trying to look them out on the internet, if possible, in movies.

All in all, the class made me think and look for many things I haven't before, so I hope that I can find the next classes as striking as the first one.

    That's all, see you miss,

  53. Miss, I am so sorry to post the comment late, the internet went out, and I couldn't do anything and now I am at Vanessa's house posting this comment because I couldn't do it before.I know that when it's about a homework or work there is not a valid excuse, but what I'm telling you it's true.
Well, I really love the classes, and you know it's true, because I try to do my best in each of them and I always try to participe as much as I can. Thanks to this, we are learning about english writers, and the importance of each of them, and each of their poems.

About Shakespeare, i can tell you is that he is an incredible man. When i noticed that many of the phrases we use nowadays were created by him, i was shocked and since that day i started to investigate more things about him.

I was also surprised when i noticed that there are several films in which Shakespeare is quoted.

Well it's all for now, see you on Tuesday
